SUPREME x COLLABORATIONS

I have drawn myself into a difference of opinion on a social platform with someone. Their opinion all be it valid, as every opinion is valid.

My opinion all be it my own stems from the following…

Supreme is a company that you all have to look at & admire. They have had their roller coaster ride of ups & downs, & currently the ride is pretty thrilling…no one knows what’s around the corner, but safe to say the ride is good for a while going forward.

So Thursday see’s the release of the Supremex Lacoste collab. In my opinion probably the best collab to date. Why ? This colab is true to what Supreme is all about….Streetwear, Street Culture..& dare I say Hip Hop Culture.

Yes this colab steeps itself in European Street Culture…

I recall the days of French Hip hop where all were wearing Lacoste & Le Coq Sportif. So it makes sense to me that as Supreme expands across Europe that it looks to collaborate with a Label that has a history in European Street Culture…& not forgetting the heritage of the Lacoste Brand.

You only have to watch La Haine to see where they are coming from.

& I do hear that Angelo the CD of Supreme was quoted as saying that this collaboration with Lacoste is one of his best for the Brand…I agree…

There is also a flip side here, it not only helps Supreme…who don’t need saving, but also opens a market for Lacoste as their will be people who did not shop there, that may not have before. So these things are never a one way street.

These labels that work with Supreme…

Louis Vuitton

Lacoste

Stone Island

North Face

They don’t’ need Supreme, & would be bold enough to say that Supreme don’t necessarily need them either. But, the respect between Brands & Acknowledgement of accomplishment & the sense that there is a consumer to play in both fields is excellent. It helps financially as well as where both parties are in the market place...

Is Supreme not the LVMH of Streetwear ?

Again…this is my opinion.

Be well
